With SensiGuard, nobody can get into your files but you
You may assume that when you click the delete button that your computer actually erases a file. Sorry to say, my roomie Katy found out the hard way that it doesn’t work that way.
Check this out. Katy goes to a well-known university in Michigan. This past year, she and her classmates and friends vacationed in Florida, where they spent their time hanging out, swimming and generally having fun before going back to the cold.
Like many students have done on Spring Break, Katy over indulged one night and got herself into a bad position. Specifically, her friends took a number of inappropriate pictures of her with a dude she met at a bar, doing things her boyfriend at home in all probability would not understand.
You probably know where this is going. When Katy returned home a few days later, her boyfriend heard about the pics on her notebook computer and quickly split up with her. To make matters worse, in a fit of juvenile anger he stole the photographs and published them on the Net for the modern world to look at.
Poor judgment aside, something like this can happen to anyone. Let’s be real-everybody has sensitive things to protect. There are lots of items on our PC or flash drive that we’d rather always keep secret, for example sensitive IMs, docs, private pictures, credit card statements or material from the office that should be stored securely.
Now, when I heard this story, I freaked when I realized all the stuff on my own computer and what would go wrong if it were lost or stolen. I asked around and did some reading on the Web. In the end, I asked my Dad. He’s a programmer and he told me about some encryption software known as SensiGuard that locks files on your personal computer- 100 % protects them. It even password protects files on your flash drive so no one can get into them but you.
Well, I assumed it was a tricky geekie toy that was only for computer geniuses or big companies. Do I have to? Encryption? The term even shouts involved and complex. But I have to admit this product is the bomb.
I first checked out the free trial. At that time I was suffering with Windows XP, but have upgraded to Windows 7 and it works fine on both. After watching the video tutorials, I realized how simple it is to begin using, and importantly, that it was something I would definitely use every day. Really, so much software is garbage that you end up not using it.
The following are a few ways I use this amazing software:
- Lock entire folders with business and personal items
- Erase files using the eraser capability
- Encrypt files on a memory stick I bring with me to work daily
- Password protect tax returns and other financial information I store on my home pc to protect my privacy
Pretty awesome, right?
